Is He Scared?

All of mythology shows that God vanquishes the evil-doer Demon but isn' it He who gives these ‘demons’ those powers? Those dim-wits try to think of all possible scenarios to become un-conquerable when asking for boons and the gods (work like tax consultants/perhaps lawyers to) find a loophole and then vanquish that poor soul (of course, even the rakshasha turns out to be a demi-god in his previous life and he’s ‘suffering’ for his sins and attains moksha by dying at the hands of God Himself)
Let me re-phrase the whole thing.
Mr.Demon does penance for ages, stands on one leg, lets wild plants grow on him, fights all distractions, goes half mad but perseveres till he gets to see the Almighty. With a whole lot of cunning (whatever is left after years of solitude), he asks for one measly boon, (my fave has to be HiranyaKashyap, death shouldn't be inside nor outside, not during day nor during night , not by Man nor animal (nor God?)), God says "Okie-dokie ,Keep the change you filthy animal" and the boon-powered demon comes back to his kingdom ,becomes king and starts terrorizing people(who by the way probably never bothered about God so far coz they are happy with life as it is going) and then, this guy gets ahead of himself (he never took History classes or heard the stories his mom told him about how his ancestors were duped) and challenges God. Who of course , then descends from his siesta and then 'releases' this guy from his suffering.
My point is,
Why does He give boons that He knows will boomerang?(He CAN of course see the future)
Why does He wait till the Demon causes mass-scale havoc?
This is when people will have to look to God for help. This is when all start praying to Him.This is when He becomes the most-important.The worse the demon, greater God will be considered to be(after killing him - and it is a war that He WILL win). And after this , everyone gets back to their merry ways because they have no more troubles and then God decides to open a new cage to unleash a new beast.
Walking back to the present, let me try to apply that to a small-scale situation. There are always people who seem to have everything in the world , at least outward appearances tend to say that , yet a closer look almost always reveals that there is something missing.Something that makes that person unhappy from within(which is the worst kind possible, especially if it is something that he cant control ,no matter what he does or how hard he tries). Then , he will try to find solace, in quite a few things perhaps, but most commonly in religion or in meditation (which is finally the route to Him)
God doesn't seem to give man a chance to become vain and self-dependant. He wont release the leash enough to let man forget Him.No matter what powers we have, emotional, physical, mental - we find ourselves seeking Him (at some point of time in life).
What if we personify God , make him a man with his own insecurities and fears ?
Is it not possible that we are but his 'playthings / pets / slaves / students' and He would not want us to outgrow Him ?
Is it not possible that He is scared that we may not 'love / remember' Him if we din't need to , so He keeps pulling the right strings to make His presence felt ?
Is it not possible that we have no limits except the ones He wants us to believe in , but He will never let us know that?
Is it not possible that he is possessive about us and wants us to Himself ? Is He Scared of losing us ?

This is awesome and ur imagination too.....sooo spiritualistic....

As far as what I think, any type of force which is exerted at any point anywhere, is what we humans termed as God and we Pray, Wish etc.....this force could be mental or physical.

God is a term needed, to share all our grieves/worries, happiness, or anything considered confidential, which u may not feel like cannot share with anyone sometimes.

From the day human beings evolved on this planet, they have termed this unknown force as God and started worshipping, and they have framed him as yet another strong being who has all the strength, power to help the people.

This Strong being is the one whom we believe, that he will pacify the whole world, soothing from all the grieves. Ultimately this prevented the humankind, not to come out of this belief and its comfort.

For every problem, there is a cause and a solution. Who is the cause, it would ultimately be a "Human". Who solves the problem, it is again a "Human". This solution can be a lead to yet another problem. All these is what we call, fortune/gifted or misfortune/curse/wrath or whatever.

As you wrote, God gives boons to rakshashas, and they become powerful and start torturing the people, and then the people pray god to save them, finally god comes out with a loophole to kill the rakshashas. Hmmm....thats soo funny to see it on films...But, if you take it with true sense, it was told that, all these rakshashas are troubles/grieves that are the consequences of what we do, the sins we commit, which are the causes. Finally we come out with solutions to this, put all our effort and then pray god, this is put as, God kills the rakshashas. This makes us believe that he is an entity, who does everything to grab our attention.

Its all how we make things better to lead a life with serenity, pacified. This is what makes me believe that we are the cause, and the trouble and finally the resolvers. Its not the god who is scared, its us, and as we dont want to blame ourselves, we want something to put on. Ultimately, it falls on this Universal Term "GOD".

Hope, I added too much of philosophy to spiritualism....but am neither against the god nor an atheist :))

This Post is really ulti....this will be one of my best, i read.... :)

Its a nice discussion and lot of paradoxes seem to come out of it... an easy one like "if God is all merciful but why would He kill His own children"? Let me take some illustration to explain

The Body - it is perishable, would wither away, is ever in flux
The Mind - it is filled with vasanas, trishnas, inherent Karmic tendencies and what not! it is also in flux
The Soul - it is imperishable. It exists without any form, name or any support of any vocabulary or imagery

Each man/woman deals with that that thing as he/she perceives it. If it is the body, they deal with it in the body level, if mind at mind level. The doctor deals with a patient at body level and the psychoanalyst at a mind level.

That having said, God deals with "it" at a soul level. He knows the past, present and future of the soul. He is the "karma phala dhatha" Eternal Dispenser. God knows that nothing except soul "material" is permanent. He does not care for anything other than soul. If He "punishes" the soul, it is to uplift it. If He sends it to Hell it is for reformation and higher purpose and not as retribution.

Now let us see it from ther perspective of Hiranyakashipu. He thinks He is All. That His body and mind are permanent. He would probably think Youth an strength is permanent. For such people, it is very tough to visualize the soul or the unity of existence. If I am deeply rooted in the conviction that I am the body, only death will give me (my soul i mean) the right wisdom. If I am deeply rooted in the conviction that I am the mind, I have to deal with its vagaries and its ups and downs. God helps in this process of creating a "souldom" and not a kingdom where happiness and bliss are permanent and misery unknown. There it is the unity of the soul, not the diversity of the body or the temporary unity of the mind.

I hope I got my message across.
